Baker was founded in 2000 by Andrew Reynolds and Jay Strickland and has changed the skateboard industry forever. Reynolds' vision was to give Baker a rough image and highlight the sometimes extreme characters of his team riders. Closely rooted to the legendary Piss Drunx crew, the first video productions like Baker 2G and Baker Bootleg caused a sensation. From the beginning, Baker was all about 100% skateboarding and a tight-knit crew of friends that set them apart from other teams. The Baker Brand logo, designed by J. Strickland, is a timeless classic and still one of the most popular logo boards.
Baker was distributed by Blitz Distribution in its early years, which also brought Birdhouse and Fury Trucks (among others) under one roof. OG Team riders Jim Greco, Erik Ellington and Andrew Reynolds decided to take matters into their own hands in 2011 and founded BakerBoys Distribution, which also distributes Deathwish Skateboards, Shake Junt, Heroin Skateboards and Psockadelic.
The OG Baker Shape is a bit more pointed than conventional decks, however, there are also squared shapes, i.e. decks with a larger nose and tail in their product range. The right board for every taste can certainly be found in their assortment. In addition to skateboards, Baker also offers accessories and clothing to round out their product portfolio. Collaborations with the graffiti artist Neckface, who is closely rooted in the brand, are also a legendary part of the brand.
After a few wild years, many original team riders decided to leave the party lifestyle behind to focus exclusively on skateboarding. Nevertheless, the image has survived the times and is carried on by the new generation of the Baker team (although in a somewhat moderate form). In the end, Baker represents 100% skateboarding and friendship, which is reflected in the team's cohesion and the numerous video productions (Baker 3, Baker has a Deathwish, Baker 4). The current Baker team includes legends like Reynolds, Figgy, Brian Herman and Kevin Long, as well as young up-and-coming talents like Jacopo Carozzi, Kader, Zach Allen or Tyson Peterson.
